I first wanted to say how much I enjoyed the professor, and I feel his enthusiasm has made this class even more enjoyable. My decision to take this class was finalized after having read the reviews on ratemyprofessor. This class has left me even more curious about the universe, as he did a great job presenting the wide range of topics about the universe from its history to observable events that are still occurring to this day. When we began the topic about the big bang, what left me in awe was how fast certain reactions occurred, such as inflation. Space expanded from an incredibly small area in literally a fraction of a second. It is amazing how much and how fast the universe could have expanded, and how all of that matter is what we are made up of today.
I also enjoyed learning about space-time and relativity. When I finally just started to begin how relativity worked in the universe, the x-y space-time graph clicked and I was even more amazed. Astronomy helps me apply my basic science courses such as biology and physics to something I am interested in. Its incredible how science can apply on such large scales such as those we see here on Earth. I really enjoyed this class and will take another astronomy class in the future.
