Concluding Reflection

Overall, I enjoyed this class - the material, the blog, and of course, the teacher. I learned a great deal more than I knew before about the early timeline of the Universe, spacetime and dimensions, and more. However, I have to say that my favorite part of this class was learning the material not exactly related to astronomy or this class. By this, I mean:

  1. Objectivity, rationality, and truth
  2. The first few blog posts that many claimed "were not relevant to the class"
My absolute favorite part of this class was when we learned about and discussed the definitions of objectivity, rationality, and truth. I found it very interesting to read my classmates' definitions of each term and then to compare it to my own definition. I was surprised (in a good way) that we discussed seemingly irrelevant (to the course) material, but I did understand how these definitions are related to this class and I am glad they were included in the course.

It was a very close second what I found the second most interesting to learn about. Although others did not like the lack of relation between the early blog posts and the class material, I really enjoyed having an outlet to read, learn, and then reflect and write about topics not necessarily covered in class. I think that the blog truly stressed learning, rather than studying facts to prepare for an exam, which I liked.

Thank you, Professor Bell, for a great class!
