My name is Jane Chang and I'm a sophomore! I am majoring in biomolecular science and (possibly) minoring in interdisciplinary astronomy, planning on attending dental school. My interest in astronomy first sparked when I started to go camping/hiking and looked up to see a blanket of stars in the sky, only to learn how empty space really is. Regardless of the measurements in textbooks or YouTube videos watched, to this day I’m still amazed at how large the sun is relative to the earth. I can’t even begin to grasp how space is so vast and complex while we as tiny individuals already have such intricate biological systems, and just that fact is refreshing and exciting!
I’ve only learned about astronomy from a historical perspective in my basic science classes. I don’t know much about space itself, so I’m looking forward to learning about the elements and how it is constantly expanding.
