General and specific relativity can be absolutely intriguing
and mind-blowing, if not understood properly. Even though I spent few hours
reading the textbook, and researching on relativity, I am nowhere close to
fully comprehending the theory of relativity. Below if an application of
general relativity that adds to the mystery of the nature.

Ever since young, we all know that light travels at a
straight line at 3.0*10^8 m/s, until relativity happened and everything we
learned “went out of the window”. Essentially, gravity can bend light but
because the gravity we are experiencing everyday isn’t strong enough, light is
traveling at a straight line, however this would not be the case for black
holes, massive stars, and neutron stars. The gravity gets so strong that light
cannot even escape the gravity which is why it get bent. For our sun, it does
not have a gravity as strong as neutron star, which is why it’s hard to detect
the bend symptoms.

From the chart, we
can see that as the phase increases, the light energy decreases drastically
Another mind-blowing fact of relativity is the fact that
once an object approaches the speed of light, it gets squished. There are a
couple of videos illustrating effect, and I would like to share it to you.
If you look at the videos attached, you can see that the
blue wheels were moving at a straight line but the wheel is not aligned to its
moving path. It was perplex because we could not understand how would a wheel
gets contracted this way still move in a straight path.
In the future, I definitely would hope to see us mankind
making progress in researching worm hole, because with worm hole, we could
essentially travel to places that we would not be able to, and also perhaps
discover life elsewhere. Furthermore, we would be able to learn a bit more
about where we come from, and also perhaps make friends with other livings in
another realm.
